In today’s fast-paced digital world, understanding how digital ecosystems operate is essential for individuals and organizations alike. This short course on Understanding Digital Ecosystems provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the complex and interconnected landscape of digital technologies, platforms, and ecosystems.
Participants will learn about the business models and strategies employed by different digital ecosystem players, and how they create value and drive innovation.
The objective of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of digital ecosystems and how they drive innovation and entrepreneurship. Students will learn about the different types of digital ecosystems, their components, and how they function in the modern business landscape. The course will also cover the key factors that enable successful entrepreneurship and innovation within digital ecosystems.
This course will cover the following topics
Introduction to digital ecosystems: In this module, we will define what a digital ecosystem is, and examine its key components, including the technology infrastructure, data, and platforms that support it.
Types of digital ecosystems: This module will explore the different types of digital ecosystems that exist, including open ecosystems, closed ecosystems, and hybrid ecosystems. We will examine the advantages and disadvantages of each type and discuss how they are used in different industries.
Digital ecosystem strategy: In this module, we will discuss how companies can develop a successful digital ecosystem strategy, including identifying the right partners and platforms, and creating value for customers.
Entrepreneurship in digital ecosystems: This module will focus on how entrepreneurship is facilitated within digital ecosystems. We will explore the role of startups, accelerators, and incubators in the digital ecosystem, and discuss strategies for creating successful startups.
Innovation in digital ecosystems: In this module, we will examine how digital ecosystems enable innovation, including the use of data and analytics, and the importance of collaboration and partnerships.
Future trends in digital ecosystems: This module will explore the emerging trends in digital ecosystems, including the role of artificial intelligence, the internet of things, and blockchain.

Business developer with more than 18 years of experience in innovation and entrepreneurship in Latin America. Has led the growth of companies in different sectors and have extensive experience in strategy and innovation. Also, has participated in the design and mapping of value chains, finding opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. As a project mentor, he has advised and linked technology-based ventures with international acceleration programs.
Throughout his career, has developed more than 130 young talents in innovation and entrepreneurship skills, many of whom are in management positions in large organizations or has undertaken relevant projects. Has participated in the training of the entrepreneurship networks of Nuevo León and Balam (LATAM), linking projects, mentors and entrepreneurs from different countries.
Until 2019, was director of the Business Incubator and the Innovative Entrepreneurship Zone in the Northern region of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he was responsible for the deployment in the north of the national innovation and entrepreneurship strategy. Founding partner and Chief Visionary Officer of Met Conecta, leading the attraction and development of talent and the management of the innovation model in Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico. Currently, as director of the UDEM Entrepreneurship and Innovation HUB, manages the strategy and design of business incubation and acceleration programs, as well as mentoring for participating projects.
