The city stands out as a geostrategic location in America. El Dorado International Airport is located within the city, only 25 minutes by car from the proposed hosting venue and some of the city´s tourist attractions.

El Dorado was awarded by Skytrax the four-star certification as well as the “The Best Staff in South America” (2021), and “The Best Airport of South America” award (2016-18) for its excellence in customer service.

Also, the biosecurity measures and touchless technology implemented by El Dorado International Airport allow passengers from all over the world to be received with confidence and professionalism. This is an airport that has received several certifications for its services and quality.

  • The British firm Skytrax, recognized El Dorado within the covid-19 airport security classification with the highest distinction of 5 stars, thanks to the standards of cleanliness, disinfection and best practices at the air terminal. It is the first airport in Latin America and the second in the world to receive this rating.
  • Airport El Dorado has a 4-star rating and was awarded as the Best Airport in South America for the third consecutive time (2016-2018) by Skytrax.
  • El Dorado received the biosecurity seal «check in Certified, COVID -19 bioseguro» and the «SAFEGUARD» certification and protection seal from the Bureau Veritas certified entity, thanks to the biosecurity measures implemented at this air terminal.
  • The Airports Council International (ACI) awarded El Dorado Sanitary Accreditation, the first airport in Colombia and the second in South America to receive this certification.
  • El Dorado International Airport  is the first air terminal in the world to be certified LEED Platinum in building operation and maintenance. This certification is awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council and is the highest recognition of its kind that an airport can receive. This certification is granted only to buildings that meet outstanding sustainability standards

Cultural attractions

La «Candelaria» Historical Center

It is the heart of Bogota: 482 years of history, traditions, and stunning colonial architecture.

It has been a political, administrative, and religious center since the 16th century when the first structures were built. Walk around its streets, and discover the Bolivar Main Square, hailing from when the city was founded, Colombia’s most famous public space and the first public monument in the city, among other experiences.

Monserrate Sanctuary Hill

The natural guardian of the city over 10,341 ft closer to the stars. It is our icon in the eastern hills with a majestic view of the city.

Gold Museum

Indigenous vestiges legacy rest here. With more than 34.000 gold pieces is the biggest pre-Hispanic goldsmith collection in the world. Also, it has 20,000 lithics, ceramics, textiles and precious stones belonging to the indigenous culture.

Outstanding places full of history and culture

Colón Theater

The Colón Theatre was declared a National Monument on 11 August 1975 and underwent renovations for three years. Between 2009 and 2010, the theatre was closed for extensive renovations. It was built in the Neoclassical style by the italian architect Pietro Cantini in 1885 and inaugurated on 27 October 1892.  Is being enlarged following the restorations and pedestrianization of the street that links it to Bolivar Square. Its imposing Neoclassical style will be complemented by a modern cultural center. It will render it one of the main arts and culture hubs in the country.

Zipaquira´s Salt Cathedral

40 minutes away from the city, in the surrounding region, the Salt Cathedral is one of Colombia’s wonders. This mystique jewl is considered Colombia’s first wonder and the deepest cathedral in the world, 590 ft. It is an ideal place to organize cultural activities, academic sessions and dinners for up to 300 seated people.

Moving around Bogota

Yellow Taxis / Cabs

Taxis in Colombia are yellow cars. El Dorado International Airport offers an official taxis service, you can easily find them after passing through the international flight exit.

The two (2) authorized taxi companies are: Taxi imperial and Radio Taxi Aeropuerto. Preferably, request the service by calling or making use of mobile applications such as: Taxis Libres and Cabify.

The driver must charge the passenger a standard fare according to the units shown on the taximeter (you can check the equivalence of fares and units in a price table available inside the car). When you take the taxi, the taximeter must show the basic fare (28 units); it will increase according to the distance traveled. There is an extra charge for special services such as going to the airport at night, among others. The minimum fare for a trip is COP $4,500 (approx USD $1.5) (*reference values 2022).

Private Transportation Platforms

The apps to move around the city are not limited to taxis, private cars,  and even public bikes. There are options to use mobile applications and pay by credit card. These platforms or applications offer transportation services in private cars. Their rates are dynamic and change depending on the model of the car availability in a given area, the route, and even the city traffic.
