General Meeting of the Department of Constitutional Law begins the second semester of 2024
The Department of Constitutional Law of the Faculty of Law held its general meeting at the beginning of the semester on July 23, which was headed by the director of the Department, Humberto Sierra Porto.

This meeting included the distinguished presence of the rector of the University, Hernando Parra Nieto; of the former Minister of Justice and Law, Néstor Osuna; and the former Attorney General of the Nation, Alfonso Gómez Méndez.
During the meeting, important topics were discussed and activities were planned for the second half of 2024.
The program of activities for the coming months was also disclosed, including academic and extracurricular events, as well as teacher seminars. The calendar of sessions of the Carlos Restrepo Piedrahita Chair was also presented and the editorial projects that are being carried out by the Department of Constitutional Law, the Carlos Restrepo Piedrahita Institute of Constitutional Studies, and by the Revista Derecho del Estado were socialized.
Regarding the undergraduate degree, the new reality of the Department of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law was analyzed, highlighting the changes and adaptations necessary in the current context with the implementation of the new semesterized Study Plan. In addition, the proposal for Undergraduate Academic Regulations was shared.
For postgraduate programs, the accreditation process for the master’s degree in constitutional law was discussed. The new postgraduate programs run by the Department were also presented: the Specialization in Defense and International Security Policy and the Virtual Master’s project in Latin American Constitutional Law. The relevant statistics and figures of the graduate programs were analyzed, and recommendations were offered to improve and strengthen them.
Finally, preparations were discussed for the World Congress of Constitutional Law, which will take place in July 2026, and will be based at the Externado University of Colombia. This event is titled: “Sustainable Constitutionalism: Answers for a Changing World.”
The meeting ended with a sense of commitment and enthusiasm on the part of all attendees, who reaffirmed their dedication to academic excellence and the strengthening of the Department of Constitutional Law.
