This elective aims to enhance students’ English language skills through the exploration of world narratives expressed through diverse music movements and genres around the world. Throughout the course, students will improve their listening comprehension and speaking skills by critically engaging with English-language music from both native and non-native speaker countries, expanding their vocabulary and grammar through lyric analysis and
creative writing. Additionally, by analyzing the linguistic and semiotic aspects of music, as well as the socio-political context, students will gain a deeper understanding of how the intersection of language, culture and music reflects societal and personal values and insights, shape cultural identities, and serve as a form of poetic expression that evokes emotions among listeners. Join us to discover the impact of English in shaping musical landscapes all over the world, and the power it holds to foster your language skills, your cultural literacy and your appreciation for music.
